Learning Resources
Library
Our spacious Library, located on the ground floor of the campus,
aims to provide the learning materials needed for each module.
These include more than 6000 books and 20,000 online journals, a
magazine collection and audio visual materials - some in print and
others in electronic formats. The Library catalogue shows what is
available. The electronic sources pages display the University's
data bases and full text online journals. Students are helped to
access these and to gain the skills they need to evaluate
information sources critically.
The Library is growing and developing as the university expands,
both in terms of electronic and book resources. Since opening in
January 2005 the Library has been enlarged with the addition of
two study rooms and extra computers for students' use. The
University Library abides by the national and international
copyright law in force.
The Library is on the Ground Floor to the right of Reception in
Room 006.

IT Help
If you have any computer related problems, please do not hesitate
to pay a visit to the IT Office or to contact its personnel. You
are encouraged to report any computer related issues or any misuse
of IT equipment on-campus. This will help us keep all the systems
working properly and thus ensure better service for all our
students. The IT Office is open Sundays-Thursdays from 8:00AM - 5:00PM
IT Hours
The IT Labs are open 7 days a week from 8:00am until 10:00pm (they
are kept open longer at the end of the semester provided requests
are made). Students may use the lab to do university work whenever
the labs are not used for scheduled teaching groups. Please ensure
that this access is not abused. We also encourage students to
report any unauthorised visitors to security immediately.
ID Cards
Students are encouraged to drop off 1 passport size photo to get
their ID cards done with the IT Office. In case you have
misplaced or lost your student ID card you will have to pay a
AED 100 fine at the Finance Office who will then give you a
receipt that you will need to bring to the IT Office to get your
new ID card done.
IT Rules & Regulations
All the computers in the IT Labs and the Library have been
installed for your benefit. In addition to the Middlesex
University computing rules, there are local rules which will be
explained during induction and will be posted in the IT Lab.
Students who do not adhere to the rules, will be subject to the
University disciplinary procedures.

New E-Mail System (Microsoft Live)
Middlesex University has introduced a new e-mail system for all
their students in January 2009. The new e-mail system is
based on Microsoft's famous Live system (similar to their
Hotmail accounts). Students can now enjoy 10 Gigabytes of space,
1000 times more space compared to the old system which only
allowed 10 Megabytes of space. There are other great benefits
that come with this system such as an online document editing
software where you can type your assignments.
Access your e-mail at
http://www.exchangelabs.com
Username: ITusernetworkuserid@live.mdx.ac.uk (The network user ID is
printed on the back of your ID Cards. E.g., AB123)
Default Password: Student Number + mmm, where mmm is the month
(in lower case) of your date of birth (e.g., if student number
is M00123456 and Date of Birth is 27 June 1986 then default
password is M001234567jun) The old
e-mail system is due to be decommissioned in April 2009.
